Tennessee Wins

Tennessee hammered Austin Peay and made them Peay their pants lastnight. I begged Austin Peay to go home at the half lastnight but as usual too damn dumb for their own good. 45-0 win is good unless you take into consideration that 42 of those points was in the 1st half and could only convert one possession into a score in the second half we do still have a ways to go.

The Defense did a great job at keeping the Golden Shower boys out of the endzone. We still have work to do but a definite improvement. Now lets get ready for WKU

The Orange Dress

I use to work the Football games as an Officer or what some enebreated fans would call me is Oskificer. There are many stories about football games that I have but I will stick to the Orange Dress on this one.

This happened in 2003 where after many many years of working games I would breed smirched that kept me apprised of people trying to sneak alcohol into games. On this particular Saturday we had an incident where I was on a gate and one of my snitches called me and told me there was a Guy that was sneaking in alcohol strapped to his leg and he was wearing a orange Dress.

Yes you read right an Orange Dress.  I alerted my lieutenant that there was a male that had on an orange dress that was coming through my gate and if he heard me say "please lift your dress" I was talking to a male not a female. Sure enough Mr. Orange dress comes strutting through my line. I ask him to lift up his dress and he had a bottle of Jack duck taped to his upper right thigh. Boy that was fun ripping it off of that prick.

I urge that Vanderbilt University to Suspend these players

Was Vanderbilt overrated coming into the 2013 Season?

Well with Vanderbilts 1st game done and overwith. Did they come in Overrated? I have to be honest I didn't watch the game. I used twittersphere and Vanderbilts coverage to come out with my own opinion and with the first game down its not looking good for the commodes I mean comadors (I guess that's how its spelled and again I don't care how its spelled).

@VandyFootball: Final: Ole Miss 39, Vanderbilt 35. The final score and that check in the lose column is what matters and ask any Tennessee fans and they will tell you that Vanderbilt starts with a big L and ends with oser. I feel that Vandy is overrated but my Judgement is purely Emotional but, I will say if they lose the next 2 weeks it will cement what every Tennessee fan knows. Gooooooooo Vols

Tennessee trio named summer ball All-Americans

Knoxville, Tenn.--(UTSports) University of Tennessee baseball players Drake Owenby, A.J. Simcox and Christin Stewart have been tabbed first team Perfect Game All-Americans for their outstanding performance over the summer.

Playing for the Alaska Baseball League’s Mat-Su Miners, Simcox was named the nation’s second-ranked shortstop of the summer. The rising sophomore led the Miners and the ABL with a .356 batting average, garnering the league’s Silver Slugger Award. In addition to batting average, the Knoxville native led the league in hits (48) and runs scored (27), while tying for second with 20 RBI.

A fellow Miner, Stewart was named the ABL’s Most Valuable Player after leading the league with 31 RBI, 14 doubles and five home runs. The rising sophomore outfielder also ranked second in the ABL in batting average (.336), hits (42) and runs scored (26).

Starting a combined 91 games for the Vols last season, Stewart and Simcox hit .310 and .283, respectively, during their freshmen seasons on Rocky Top. The duo ranked first and second on the team in RBI with 27 and 26, respectively.

Playing for the San Luis Obispo Blues of the California Collegiate League, Owenby dominated the late innings this summer, leading the league with eight saves and 50 strikeouts in just 26 innings pitched. The rising sophomore lefty finished the summer with a 1.01 ERA.

Owenby and Tennessee teammate Dalton Saberhagen both garnered CCL awards. Pitching for Conejo Oaks, Saberhagen led the league with a perfect 7-0 record and was named the CCL’s Most Valuable Pitcher. He compiled a 2.68 ERA over 57 innings. Owenby was named one of the top pitching prospects in the CCL this summer.

Some UT students registered for UT Alert didn't get the alert text message after Tuesday's robbery

By: Hilary Magacs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) -- Those signed up for UT Alert text messages and e-mails should have received alerts after a man robbed the UT Federal Credit Union inside the University Center Tuesday. The robbery happened just before 11:30 a.m. Some received the text alert as early as 11:48 a.m. For others, it was later:

"It was around almost 12 o'clock - 11:51," said Jamaal Goldsmith, a junior.

"I got it at 11:51 in the morning," said sophomore Collin Fegak.

"I was writing a paper for English and I got it at 11:53," said Bo Hunter Stevens, a freshman.

Gage Armstrong never got the text message at all.

"I thought it was odd that some people got it and I didn't. But it has been sporadic in the past too with my alerts. Sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't And it's just kind of the way it is. But through the text alerts sent to other people I did find out about the event, it just wasn't through my phone," said Armstrong.

The UT Police Department said Armstrong wasn't the only one who had problems.

"We have heard feedback. Some people said they got it later, some people said they hadn't got it at all, so we've actually pushed out through media relations today, we're going to push out information to the student body - to the campus community basically on common problems that we see," said Emily Simerly, Deputy Chief of Administrative Affairs for the UT Police Department.

Some problems on the student side include not signing up for the alerts, and not updating their phone numbers. But the police department said once the alert is sent to cell phone providers, it's up to them to deliver the message to customers and that's when things get complicated.

"They system itself like I said pushes that message out at UT within several minutes. Some carriers take a little bit longer to send out a message than others though, unfortunately. We have no control what happens to a message once it reaches - once it gets past the UT software and gets pushed into a carrier's realm," said Simerly.

She said that's why it's best to sign up for the UT Alert e-mails, too.

If you're having trouble with your UT Alert e-mails or text messages, send an e-mail to UTAlert-Help@UTK.Edu.

UT said it tests its alert system regularly. The next text is set for September 20th at 1:10 p.m.
